New England Manager of Instruction

Alex O.
Alex O.

Hello and welcome to my region.

Even though our local team of instructors works in New England, I'€™m thrilled to have them come from as far away as Los Angeles and Minnesota but also as close as Lowell and Providence. In addition to geographic diversity, our instructors come from an array of backgrounds ranging from engineering to business development. But regardless of geographic and professional background, I'€™m pleased to know we'€™re using these experiences to offer the best, most engaging instruction to all of our students.

Whether it’s in Portsmouth, NH or South Kingstown, RI, Revolution Prep instructors have the knowledge, experience, and charisma to help students succeed.

I hope you'€™ll take a few minutes to read more below; I think you'€™ll enjoy 'meeting' our team:

Scarsdale, NY
University of Wisconsin - Madison

I'm a round ball, not a dilettante, but one with a history of diverse interests and experiences. After studying philosophy at the University of Wisconsin, I traveled extensively before selecting a career path. I spent most of the past thirty years involved in food-related endeavors: as a Chef, an entrepreneur, a senior executive, a consultant and a teacher.

My resume highlights managerial, entrepreneurial and executive experience, but embedded within the 'suit job' history is a teaching theme - both commercial and academic. At Boston University, I created curriculum and taught classes focusing on concept development in the food service industry. In a similar vein, virtually all of my corporate work involved communication and instruction of some sort, be it sales, managerial or operational. Perhaps, the most rewarding educational experience I've been involved in was as a volunteer instructor in the computer lab at my daughter's elementary school.

I believe myself to be a creative and innovative problem solver, able to see and communicate concepts from multiple points of view, and I'm constantly guided by my recollection of the inability of many of my own teachers to have been more than one-trick-ponies. Equally important, I think, is that I enjoy teaching and relating with others.

I hope to help today's students achieve their long term goals by improving their chances of attending the college they think best for them.

The SAT is a student's best opportunity to impact his or her desirability to prospective colleges... in the shortest amount of time. Of all the SAT Prep programs, Revolution Prep is the most up to date, responsive and inclusive. Revolution Prep is the program I chose to help students have the best chance to attend the college they want.

South Kingstown, RI
University of Rhode Island

I'm a senior in the Biological Sciences program at URI. I am looking towards a PhD in genetics or molecular pathology in the next few years, but I promise I'm not a total science nerd. In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, road trips with great music, and learning about new people and places.

I teach for Revolution Prep because college has such a profound impact on a student's future, and I want to help students get into the school of their dreams. Revolution Prep gives students the tools they need to tackle a big part of getting into college: the SAT. Plus, it doesn't hurt that working with high school students is really quite fun and teaching for Revolution is the best job ever.

Colonie, New York
Boston University

My SAT scores helped me to earn a full-tuition scholarship to BU, where I earned degrees in journalism and history.

I spent two semesters travelling “abroad”: the first working as a reporter at a wire service in Washington, D.C., and the second studying at Oxford University in England. I also spent countless hours playing intramural sports and practicing the swing, cha-cha, rumba, waltz, foxtrot, and tango. By senior year, my partner and I were nationally ranked on the collegiate ballroom-dancing circuit!

After graduation, I married my ballroom partner and helped him secure $2.5 million in funding for a software start-up company. Today, we live in Hampstead, New Hampshire, with our two little boys.

I love my job with Revolution Prep because I change lives every day! When I help students to conquer this beast of an exam, I’m really helping them to clear a major hurdle standing between them and their dreams. Watching my students succeed makes me feel awesome!

Darien, CT
Dartmouth College

I graduated from Dartmouth with a degree in Neuroscience and minor in Public Policy. I'm taking a couple years off before medical school to work in health care and teach. I love skiing, running, and photography, and I'm looking forward to the first big snowstorm of the year!

I teach for Revolution because it makes the SAT material fun and manageable. I love the approach of learning to take the test and not memorizing every imaginable detail. I wish I'd had that kind of curriculum in my SAT prep!

Tanya G.
Tanya G.

Medway, MA
Boston University

Hey everyone! My name is Tanya and I am from a little town that no one has ever heard of called Medway. I've moved around a lot in my life, from Boston to Pennsylvania to New York and back, but I like it where I am now and will be sticking around for a while. Right now, I am a junior at Boston University with a double major in Human Physiology and Magazine Journalism. Super related subjects, I know. My next step is med school, I think, but we'll see what happens between now and then!

My goal as an SAT tutor is to give all students an equal opportunity to do well on the test so that their score will never be a limiting factor when applying to a college of their choice. For those who are already pro's at test-taking, I will help teach them all the information needed to succeed on the SAT. For those who are less inclined to test-taking, I will do everything I can to ease the stress of the SAT and make sure they have all the tools they need to do well.

Weston, MA
Boston U. and Tufts (grad)

I hail from the Boston area originally and most recently worked in Charlotte, NC for 5 years in strategic marketing for companies such as DIRECTV and Sirius Satellite Radio. I am back in Boston to complete my graduate degree in International Business at Tufts. In my spare time, I love to go running with my dog, Griswold. I also love skiing, especially now that I am back in the north!

Before returning to graduate school, I volunteered teaching high school students about world affairs, and I have also tutored people from around the world in English as a Second Language (ESL). I love working with students and helping them improve their results. I also recently had to take the GMAT for graduate school - like the SAT but possibly more painful - so I empathize with all you students taking the SAT! It's all worth it once you're on the way to college!

Allenstown, NH
New York University

I grew up in a small town and went to school with the same kids for 12 years. After graduation, I wanted nothing more than to see something new, so I packed my bags and went to the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. There I studied Psychology and Astrophysics (only one of those is true). I took a year off to learn how to cook at a restaurant before enrolling at NYU to get my masters degree in Applied Psychology (or perhaps Applied Astrophysics?!). I enjoy my work now as a Guidance Counselor in Lawrence and spend my off time reading or listening to any of the many genres of music I tend to collect.

When I took the SAT, I didn't practice or prepare, and looking back, I know now what kinds of doors may have opened with a higher score. I teach because I love teaching and I love finding ways to help students in whatever ways I can.

Jordan B.
Jordan B.

Chatham, NY
University of Rhode Island

I graduated with a degree in Biology in 2006 and since then I have pursued many career possibilities. I considered medical school, engaged in neuroscience research, coached a rowing team at the collegiate level and served as a research assistant in clinical addiction. These experiences have led me back to the University of Rhode Island to pursue a PhD in Biology, which I will begin this fall.

College is a tremendous experience and, in my opinion, an essential aspect of growing up. I love working with students and I want to do everything I can to help others gain admission to the college of their dreams.
