SAT score & registration for the official SAT
What is tested on the SAT?
The math section of the SAT tests arithmetic, algebra and basic geometry. The verbal section tests critical reading skills as well as vocabulary and logic through the use of sentence completion questions. The writing section covers grammar concepts as well as a student's ability to compose a short essay.
What is the 200 point guarantee?
Any student who attends all classes and does all of his or her homework but does not achieve a score increase of at least 200 points on the SAT Reasoning Test can take the course again for FREE. No new materials are provided. This guarantee is based on Revolution Prep's average score improvement.
How much of a score increase can students expect?
Revolution Prep students increase their scores by an average of 250 points. However, enrolling in a Revolution course does not guarantee a student will increase his or her score by that amount. Many Revolution students have increased their SAT score by 300, 400 and even 500 points, while others have experienced smaller increases. On the whole, Revolution students who attend all classes and do all their homework experience score improvements more than twice those of students who put in demonstrably less effort.
What is a good score on the SAT?
The SAT is scored out of a possible 2400 points. There are 800 possible points for each section: Math, Reading, and Writing. The essay that is included in the writing portion of the exam is scored on a scale from 2-12, and counts for roughly 30% of the overall writing score. The average score on each section is around 500 points, or 1500 points on the entire exam. A "good" score depends on what your college goals are. It is a good idea to check the admissions guidelines for all of the colleges that you are considering, including average SAT scores. A great resource is the College Finder link at www.collegeboard.com.
How many times can a student take the SAT?
Students can take the SAT as many times as they want. Some colleges accept your highest scores on each individual section, while others accept your highest score in a single sitting. However, most students who simply take tests over and over without going over those tests and analyzing their mistakes experience little score improvement.
