College: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Resides in: Gurnee, IL
About Me:
I was born in New York and grew up in Gurnee, IL. I graduated from U of I in 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences with Integrative Biology as my major. After graduating I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for a while and then moved to Seoul, South Korea to teach English to Elementary students for a year, returning August 2009. I play guitar and sing in a folk band, I paint and draw and was a political cartoonist for the Daily Illini in college.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I am very happy with the options my college education has provided me and would like to help prospective students in their pursuit of an education that provides them the options they desire.
Christopher A.
Hometown: Grayslake, IL
College: Northwestern University
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I grew up in the Northern Suburbs, went to Northwestern University, and am now living in Chicago. If this trend continues, you will soon be able to find me in Central Illinois. Besides having the migration pattern of a glacier, I studied Linguistics, Portuguese, and Computer Science at school, am an avid badminton player, and cannot whistle. In addition to teaching for Revolution Prep, I work as a search engine consultant and translator.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
If there was ever a company that truly embodies its philosophy and carries through on its promises, its Revolution. It makes me proud to be working for a test prep company that puts students first and foremost. Everyone cares deeply about education and it shows, especially in the quality of the instructors (Am I right or am I right?).
Rachel A.
Hometown: Farmington Hills, MI
College: University of Michigan
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit and attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), where I majored in American Culture (yes, that really is a major) with a minor in Psychology. I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in education and went on to grad school at DePaul University, where I received my Master of Education in Secondary Social Studies. Besides my incredibly exciting educational biography, I love good books, good food, and bad reality TV. I am happiest spending time with my ever-growing family (I'm a brand new aunt!), and most importantly, my handsome puppy Wally.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I truly believe all students deserve the opportunity to go to college. I think Revolution Prep is helping to make this belief a possibility by providing all students an equal chance to prepare for college entrance exams, and this is something I feel lucky to be part of.
Lauren B.
Hometown: Chicago
College: Marquette University
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I live on the southwest side of Chicago and am employed in a number of school districts as a substitute teacher. I have taught preschool, third grade, fifth grade, and high school Social Studies. Every year, I take courses to further my own education in the field of teaching. I am now taking courses to obtain certification to teach English language learners. I will soon be starting a program for an elementary teaching certificate (I am middle school/secondary certified).
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, seeing movies, shopping, golfing, snowboarding, traveling, and eating out.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I took an ACT prep course in high school and learned valuable skills that allowed me to receive a great score on my ACT. Revolution's program is unique in the sense that it gives you an all-around plan of action to take the ACT. Not only do you gain a core understanding of important concepts, but you also "train for the test" by taking our practice exams. I believe in this program because I have seen it work!

Hometown: LaHabra, California
College: University of Chicago, Ph.D. Sociology
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I am a Sister of Providence and an associate Professor of Sociology at a local university. I just returned from a year in Uganda where I was a Fulbright lecturer. Although I'm originally from California, I've lived in Chicago most of my adult life. I love Chicago, although I could happily live without the winters.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I was looking for a little something more to do. I like teaching and, strangely enough, I've always enjoyed the challenge of standardized tests. Revolution Prep seems to be a way to do a bit of both.
Cristalle B.
Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
College: University of Illinois-Urbana

About Me:
I'm a native Chicagoan, a former Chemist, a present Rapper and all around dynamo at Wii Boxing (Thanks, Nintendo!). It's hard for me to consider telling you anything about me that doesn't make me seem like a dorky chick. Ah, well. You can't win them all. I graduated from the University of Illinois is 2002 with a degree in Chemistry. Now flash-forward a mere 2-and-a-half years later and I'm in a tour van traversing the US and Canada entertaining with some of indie rap's darlings. It's been fun, and as I continue through my path of post-college existence and overall popular happiness, the education bug never seems to stop biting me. And I stay bitten. Educating found me; I feel good when I do it! I never thought I'd be the one helping out in my own special way. But however I approach it, it works--the classroom or the venue. Either way, I want you to succeed. Thank you for the opportunity.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
There isn't a good enough reason for me not to teach for Revolution Prep. I never had cool teachers--let alone cool tutors. I never really had a tutor until college, anyway. I've traveled all over the place doing music and performances for people just like you, and I feel I can help out in ways other than making you shake your butt. As I live through Science, Art, Tutoring, Music Performances and the like, my expertise and my experience continue to make me a prime candidate to learn, er, teach something. Let's learn some stuff together; stuff that'll help you along on your own unique path. A lot of that path starts with college. And that starts with the SAT. Simple. It's not as painful a road as you might think.

Hometown: Mokena, IL
College: Dartmouth College
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
My path to becoming a revolution prep instructor truly began at age 7 when I created my very own classroom, planned incredibly interesting lectures, spent extra money at the teachers' store, and even went as far as to plan fake fire drills with my own siblings and our friends. I cannot honestly claim to be any less lame, though I am sure my techniques have improved drastically. From here I went on to high school at Lincoln-Way East where I prepped for a remarkable college experience. In 2007, I graduated from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH with a degree in Anthropology. While there I was able to take advantage of a number of amazing opportunities, among them, studying abroad in Rome, Italy and Auckland, New Zealand-both amazing places I hope to return to in the near future. After graduating, I began my pursuit of a Masters of Medical Sciences at Boston University and am now applying to medical school while finishing up my thesis. Currently, I am a student intern at Children's Memorial Hospital working with a group focused on obesity management and prevention in kids. In my free time, I like to pretend I know how to cook, plan trips I cannot afford, watch TV, camp, hike, canoe, listen to live music, and read, read, read.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep truly cares about its students, its instructors, and the world at large. Making a commitment to offer this course to all people, regardless of ability to pay, makes Revolution a company for which I am proud to say I work. It's also refreshing that their curriculum strives to teach critical reasoning and thinking that can benefit students throughout their academic careers and not only while preparing for the ACT.

Hometown: Wheaton, IL
College: Wheaton College
Resides in: Wheaton, IL
About Me:
I grew up in western PA and moved out here to go to college. After receiving my undergrad degree in anthropology and my master's in missions and intercultural studies, I stuck around. In my spare time I read, run (cross country and track athlete), listen to music, and bake. In the future I hope to do churchplanting in Europe.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I was babysitting one day when I realized that while playing with kids is fun, what I really enjoy is teaching. I decided that as fulfilling as it can be to teach a 3 year old to sing "Yankee Doodle," I wanted a chance to teach older students whom I could interact with on a deeper level. I wanted to help students develop and know that what I am teaching will be meaningful in their lives. I wanted a greater challenge.
I am so excited to be able to joke around with my students, while partnering with them to conquer these beasts known as standardized tests.

Hometown: Bethesda, Maryland
College: Pomona College
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I grew up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC. After graduating from high school, I moved out to sunny Southern California to attend Pomona College where I majored in Math. I had an awesome opportunity to study abroad in Cork, Ireland for a semester, which was probably the best few months of my life. After graduating from school I moved out to Chicago to seek my fortune. I play blues and rock on my electric guitar, play racquetball and tennis with my friends, and do my best to cook delicious meals at every opportunity. I love the Washington Nationals, even if they are the worst team in baseball, and growing up in DC gave me a huge interest in politics and world events. I haven't entirely decided on my future plans, but I'm seriously considering getting a Masters in Education so that I can teach high school math.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I really love teaching, and Revolution Prep gives me a great opportunity to do it. The curriculum is smart, and manages to teach kids things that they can use beyond just getting a great score. The company does a wonderful job of handling the logistics so that I can focus on helping kids get into their dream schools.

About Me:
I graduated from Northwestern in 2007 and then headed to Arizona to work as an engineer. After being let go from my engineering job I decided to relocate back to Chicago to look for work and explore some other career opportunities, including a possible move into education. When I'm not tutoring I enjoy running, playing ultimate frisbee, playing guitar and hanging out with friends.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I was drawn to Revolution Prep due to their growth and commitment towards making their services available to all students, regardless of economic background.

I moved to the Naperville region in Aug. 2007 after getting married to my wonderful husband! We have 4 dogs and live in Montgomery Il. We both work out of Naperville, as my husband was born and raised there. I work part-time as a nanny and do early education planning and interventions for private clients. We love to hike, camp, 4-wheel, motorcross race, snow-mobile, travel,go to dinner, see movies, go to the dog park, and spend time with our dogs and each other! The picture posted was taken in Ecuador!
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I love teaching! I love when students get the ah ha moment! It always took me a little longer in HS to get the ah ha moment! It is such a wonderful feeling to help someone else with something they are stuggling or scared to take on! I also have always loved test... I am a test taker and I also had friends who were not and one of my sisters is not who is preping to take the ACT and helping here through studying for the ACT lead me to want to teach ACT prep. Revolution is a wonderful program in that it focuses on what you need to learn, and one fundamental rule that makes them stand out is that no one will ever be turned away from the education of test prep because of finances!

Hometown: Wall Township, NJ
College: University of Michigan
Resides in: Schaumburg, IL
About Me:
As a young girl growing up at the Jersey Shore, the last place I thought I'd be living and working was Chicago. Now that I'm here, I love it!
I grew up in a larger suburban town in New Jersey, Wall Township, with aspirations to attend a fantastic university after high school. After working hard in school, and doing well on the SAT, I attended the University of Michigan (after my father coaxed me to apply...for some reason, I had this mental picture of Ann Arbor being in the middle of the cornfields...boy, was I wrong!). After 3 and a half years in the Psychology program at Michigan, I graduated in December of 2006 and subsequently moved to Chicago. After multiple visits, I fell in love with this city!
Currently, I am in the process of preparing to attend the DePaul University College of Law in the fall, to focus on child and family law. I can't wait to get started!
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I had a lot of help and support while testing for and applying to college, so I'd like to be able to help my students in the same way. My hope is that I will not only be a tutor, but also become a mentor to each student during each course and beyond.

Resides in: Elk Grove Village, IL
About Me:
I received my B.A. in Psychology from Marquette University after which I moved back to the Chicago area to attend graduate school at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I recently graduated with my M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. Currently, in addition to teaching at Revolution Prep, I work at a marketing company called Presence Marketing.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I decided to join Revolution Prep's team because I love learning. I'm excited to have the opportunity to help others learn and set themselves up continue on the path to higher education. Further, I believe I still have a lot to learn and even though I am the teacher I think I can learn from my students as well.

About Me:
After graduating from Amherst, I taught for two years in Mississippi as a member of the Mississippi Teacher Corps, a program similar in aims to Teach for America. I taught 7th grade reading and social studies. I live with my wife and dog in Evanston and will be attending Northwestern Law School in the fall of 2010.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I enjoy teaching and working with young people and believe in Revolution Prep's mission of helping high school students get in to the college that's right for them.
Adam H.
Hometown: Andover (Minneapolis), MN
College: Wheaton College
Resides in: Winfield, IL
About Me:
I grew up in a frozen tundra (aka, the land of 10,000 snowfalls). In high school I was really involved in Mock Trial and choir (sadly, I was not blessed with the athletic gene). When looking at colleges, I wanted to go someplace out of state, somewhere near a big city, and somewhere warmer (granted, you can get much colder when you're in MN). I succeeded in two out of the three by going to Wheaton College. While at Wheaton, I was greatly involved in the choir program, the opera program, and the theater club. I graduated this past May with a degree in Music Performance (voice). As for now, I am taking some classes at COD to prepare for going to grad school in psychology. Maybe one day I'll be done with school...
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
When looking at jobs, I was really impressed with The Revolution's financial aid program and their desire to find fun, passionate teachers (a category which I obviously fit into). After meeting some of the other teachers and managers, I was even more impressed. Revolution Prep really follows through on its philosophy. Students' success really is the #1 goal.

Hometown: OC, California
College: UC San Diego, Northwestern
Resides in: Evanston, IL
About Me:
Chicago born and Belgian bred, I grew up in Orange County and did my undergraduate in San Diego. For five years, I studied literature and math, and even perfected my French (sans Belgian accent) while living in Bordeaux for a year.
During and after college, I've been constantly involved in education, whether it be through tutoring, teaching, volunteering, or studying Learning Sciences for my master's at Northwestern.
When I'm not studying or teaching, I love cooking/eating vegetarian fare, reading about cognitive science, doing bikram yoga, running, and backpacking (my favorite trip was a month-long trek across the Patagonian glaciers).
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I see learning as a form of empowerment. Doing well on college entrance exams is a big step in the direction of a good education.
David K.
Hometown: Wichita Falls, Texas
College: University of Chicago
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I grew up in small town Texas and, after college, ventured to the midwest for graduate school. My master’s degree at the University of Chicago is in sociology of education and statistical methods. I work at a policy research center at UofC, studying and writing about reading development in children, how teachers learn to support students, and the impact of student mobility on schools.
I’m happiest when I am running on the lake shore or have a tennis racket in my hand.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
As part of my work, I’ve studied how standardized tests are constructed, how questions are written, and what the “tricks of the trade” are. In short, I know more about the ACT/SAT than any sane person should. Revolution Prep was a perfect fit.

Hometown: Omaha, NE
College: Loyola University Chicago
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I grew up in Nebraska, home of the Cornhuskers and thousands of other corn-related things. I moved to Chicago in 2004 in search of somewhere actually colder than Nebraska, as well as to attend college at Loyola University where I studied Economics, History, and Education . I completed a year of Law School at DePaul University, however, it was not a good fit for me, but I love Chicago so much that I stayed and currently give architectural boat tours of Chicago (think Vince Vaughn in The Break Up...but a little cooler). I plan to go back to school to get my Master's in Education. I played sports throughout high school and still love running along the lakefront in the City.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep has an amazing mission that I believe very strongly in. Helping students succeed on the ACT furthers their college opportunities and ultimately job opportunities, while hopefully giving them useful, long term knowledge in the process. The college applications and the ACT were a stressful time in my life. I want to make the experience less stressful and more enjoyable (dare I say... FUN???) for students. I love teaching and interacting with kids and try to find any way that I can to help them. I have a wide variety of interests and passions and think that makes it easier to relate subjects to students in an interesting way. I relish the opportunity to be there for students as they make their journey along this difficult, yet exciting path.

Hometown: Orland Park, IL
College: Loyola University Chicago
Resides in: Orland Park, IL
About Me:
After a hockey injury medically disqualified me from my appointment to the United States Naval Academy, I found myself reexamining my life and goals. I pursued a degree with the intention of going to medical school until the semester before graduation, realizing I was in it for the wrong reasons. I then took some courses in education and immediately found my calling. Since graduating, I plan to pursue a masters in education in order to teach at the high school level.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Many companies talk about their social mission, but Revolution Prep is one of the few who truly believes it. Their dedication to providing a high quality product while ensuring its accessibility clearly separates it from the pack, and is something I am proud to contribute to.
Josh L.
Hometown: Manhattan Beach, CA
College: Northwestern University
Resides in: chicago, IL
About Me:
Hey. I'm Josh. I grew up in LA and went to school at Northwestern where I was a theater major. I now spend my days acting and teaching (and sometimes teaching acting!) I also love listening to music and going to shows, and love talking about music as well as books, movies, TV, and sports (my teams are Chelsea, the Dodgers, and most importantly, the Los Angeles Lakers...sorry Bulls fans). I really like food and fancy myself a pretty decent cook. And if you're curious about the picture, I actually take circus classes and have trained as a clown. Ask me about it sometime.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I've had a lot of opportunities in my life thanks to academics, and I'd like to help other students get those opportunities themselves.

I graduated from Marquette with a BS in Biomedical Sciences in 2002, and now work in the pharmaceutical industry.
I love sports. I watch everything (especially the Bears!) and play tennis, softball, and volleyball. I have the 'travel bug', and always need to explore new and exciting things. I think time well spent is time outdoors.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep puts the success of its students above all else. Helping students achieve their academic goals is incredibly rewarding!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I like the opportunity to help develop students as they work towards college. I believe Rev Prep provides students with useful strategies for the ACT, and allows them to familiarize themselves with the test. I am looking forward to working with everyone!

About Me:
I am a mom to 3 very active boys. They are 13, 11 and 9 and are the most important part of my life. I am a big sports fan; I especially enjoy watching my boys play football and baseball (surprise, surprise!). When not focused on the family, I enjoy needlepoint, reading, and baking. I am a certified scuba diver and would love to figure out a way to live underwater.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep offers an incredible program for preparing students to take the ACT. I enjoy seeing the "light bulb" moments, and I think that this program offers many of them.
Charlie M.
Hometown: Saint Joseph, Missouri
College: Truman State University
Resides in: Downers Grove, IL
About Me:
I'm coming at ya, straight from the Heartland of St. Joe, MO. I went to college at Truman State University where I obtained my B.S. in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Education. My dream was to run around with students and teach them all about physical activities along the way. I earned my Master's in Education the following year from Truman and flew off to Southern California to teach environmental education at an outdoor science school. Throughout my adventures, my passion has always been for Ultimate Frisbee and exploring everything the world around me. For a good story ask me about Rock, Paper, Scissors.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I love to think of the ACT as an intense game, and it's my job to coach students how to navigate through it. I am energized to know that what I teach could mean the difference between a student not going to college and having school paid for by scholarships they earn. The curriculum and techniques of Revolution provide students with the appropriate tools needed to not only succeed on the ACT, but beyond. I hope students come ready with their A-game!

Hometown: Niles, IL
College: Loyola University Chicago
Resides in: Niles, IL
About Me:
I've lived in the north Chicago suburbs all my life. I attended Loyola University Chicago for undergrad where I majored in English and Secondary Ed. I love to read and am a big grammar nerd. On the same level, I like to think of myself as artsy with a love for movies, art, music, theater, etc. Being at Loyola allowed me to explore the amazing city of Chicago, which I never plan on leaving. I went back to Loyola to work on my masters this year in Curriculum & Instruction. I also substitute at a few districts in the north suburbs while I work on my master's degree.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Coming from Loyola, social justice is a huge belief of mine. Revolution Prep also believes in it, so we are a perfect match. I also like that Revolution Prep teaches critical thinking skills and not just the shortcuts for standardized tests. I love helping students excel in academics and make myself readily available after class.
Ashley P.
Hometown: Chicago
College: Loyola University
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I amcurrently attending Loyola University majoring in Biology. Before I came to Loyola, I was majoring in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I love math, but not enough to be an engineer! I work nights as an EMT in addition to teaching for Revolution Prep. Some day I hope to be an ER doctor to continue to feed my obsession with blood, guts, and adrenaline rushes. In the meantime, I am happy to be living in Chicago and spending time with my friends and my cool dog Thor. My hobbies include collecting vinyl records, baking cupcakes, screenprinting, and learning to play the ukulele.
In the past, I taught CPR through the American Heart Association. I also taught Engineering 100, a four-week introduction to the College of Engineering at the U of I. After graduation, I hope to teach high school biology for a year through Teach for America before entering medical school.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I love to teach and Revolution Prep offers me a chance to make a difference in the lives of local high school students.

Hometown: Skokie, IL
College: University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I have just graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a BS in Media Studies (and concentrations in English and history). I took a bit of a roundabout path to my degree by switching majors a few times and even transferring universities (I started out at Boston University). Because of this, I’ve garnered extensive collegiate experiences from which I’ve gleaned trinkets of wisdom I hope to share with the college-bound students I get to meet and teach. In my spare time, I most enjoy spending time and having conversations with my family and good friends. I love reading (contemporary short stories, media-related topics, etc.), public broadcasting, cooking (there's nothing like smashing garlic), playing with my puppies, and in general trying to soak up the best details of life.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
There is something palpably refreshing about Revolution, which is not necessarily a statement one would usually make about a standardized test prep company. For me, what I most enjoy and respect about Revolution comes down to three elements: the good people that make this company, the teaching philosophy, and the integration of a social conscience into the fundamental nature of the business. These qualities are rather rare and unique to Revolution - they make the company a place where jobs and tasks can be challenging but where moving forward through such things really does not feel like work. It's lovely.
Patrick R.
Hometown: Crystal Lake, Illinois
College: Illinois State University
Resides in: Crystal Lake, IL
About Me:
I am a recent graduate of Illinois State University in English Education. While my long term goal is to teach in a traditional high school classroom, at this time I feel that I can best serve students and achieve my personal goals through Revolution Prep. I am an energetic individual and can do no less than try my best. I find a great deal of joy in working with high school students, and I look forward to seeing everyone this Spring.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I feel that the value of a person cannot be quantified through one standardized government test; however, there is a great value placed upon it within higher education. My job is to provide a student the tools necessary to reach his/her potential within the isolated situation that is standardized testing. Even though standardized testing is rigorous and laborious, I make every effort to provide an energetic environment that is safe, structured, and fun.
Edward R.
Hometown: Redding, CT
College: Northwestern University
Resides in: Chicago, IL
About Me:
I graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a proficiency in ultimate Frisbee. I worked for a biotechnology firm after graduation, but now I am focusing my energies on teaching. I still play ultimate year-round, which means I will not have any knee function after 30; however, I've prepared myself for that. I also love to cook multi-course dinners, and I tend to play any piano I can find.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I have had a passion for teaching others since high school, when I gave private music lessons and tutored for SAT prep and for the AP classes I was taking. Now I have the opportunity to do this again, and Revolution Prep's approach to teaching is very much aligned with my natural teaching style, so it was an easy decision for me to make!

About Me:
I grew up in the Bay Area and then moved out to Chicago for school at Northwestern, where I studied theatre and philosophy. I bounced back to California to see what all the fuss over L.A. was about, and so far I'm having a great time. When I'm not teaching, I'm usually doing some acting thing, taking classes myself (yes, even teachers are students), and exploring the incredible state of California. That's what I'm up to, anyway. How about you?
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I overheard that Rev Prep is where awesome and amazing instructors teach the SATs... so who am I to argue with that? I signed up immediately...

About Me:
I grew up in St. Louis County with two brothers and one sister. All four of us graduated from UIUC. I studied computer science and mathematics for two years before deciding it wasn't my thing. From there I changed my major to Industrial Design, and I graduated with a BFA in 2002. I hopped straight into a Master's degree in Art Education, and graduated again in 2004. I am currently an art teacher in the suburbs of Chicago.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I believe in helping kids. I can't think of a career that is more interesting, fun, or rewarding than teaching. My day job is teaching art, but I have wide-ranging interests and skills. I have always wanted to have the opportunity to help kids succeed in other ways, and I'm drawn to the philosophy and goals of Revolution Prep.

About Me:
Near the end of my senior year of high school, I was in desperate need of an adventure. That need took me to the University of St. Andrews in Scotland where I spent the next four years. There, I was able to travel around Europe, spend my 21st birthday in Egypt, major in English and Spanish, and learn more about kilts than anyone should ever know! Now I'm back in Chicago and looking forward to exploring my hometown a bit more. I LOVE: Disney World, Indiana Jones movies, and 80's rock music
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep is an amazing company that really cares about its instructors, tutors, and especially its students! I feel honored to work for Revolution Prep.

I grew up in Colorado so naturally I love snowboarding, hiking, and being outside. I graduated this past May from Wheaton College with a degree in Human Biology and am excited about what's ahead.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Maybe it is because I am indefinitely stuck at a high school maturity level, or maybe I just enjoy the occasional emotional beating (kidding). Either way, I love working with high-schoolers. And I love teaching! Revolution Prep is a great company, I am spoiled with incredible students, and hey, I like my bosses too! How many people can say that?

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:

About Me:
I am a recent graduate of IU Bloomington, earning bachelor's degrees in Economics and English Literature. During my tenure there, I participated in Club Ultimate, community basketball and frisbee leagues, co-headed a poetry circle, and played music with a melange of musicians, eventually releasing one EP. I've now moved back to Chicagoland in hopes of starting a career in editing/publishing.

Communication and the learning process are fascinations of mine, and education is the joint application of these. Revolution Prep is the perfect environment for me to make a positive difference in other peoples' lives while developing myself as an active member of the community and growing as an individual.

About Me:
In no particular order of importance, here are some facts about me: I am a graduate of The Sonoma State University, where I majored in Economics, History, and Political Science, and minored in Applied Statistics. I am originally from Millbrae, which is famous for having a large BART station. I rowed for Sonoma State and a club in Philadelphia named Penn AC, and am a former Vice President of my chapter of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. After recently conquering the LSAT (another infamous admissions test), I will soon be headed to Duke Law School.
Outside of that, my interests include food, fitness, reading, board games, movies, golf, picture framing, and food.
Oh, and I'm really good at SAT stuff too.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Frankly, I actually like doing SAT math problems. What I like even more, however, is teaching and coaching, and generally being helpful to someone looking to achieve something. Also, I'm pretty competitive and like beating things like opposing teams and admissions tests.

About Me:
I am a fifth generation Floridian, but moved about a dozen times before graduating from high school (my father was an F.B.I. agent). To be honest, I was often bored in high school, but loved college! I did my Masters work at DePaul University and The University of Chicago. And, I am now working my Ph.D. from Loyola, in Child Development.
I love to travel, I am very active in volunteer work, and I am always up for a great adventure! My latest adventure was taking a flying lesson on my birthday. This picture was taken mid-air.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep for many reasons. One is simple. I remember being in your shoes! When I was preparing to graduate from high school, my parents forced me to take a college prep class. It was a VERY hard sell for them. I can still remember it.
Now, I realize that prep class was my ticket! I studied hard, took the ACT test, got a great score, and went to college. I had the BEST time of my life in college!
I want to use my experience to help you to get into the school of your dreams. I firmly believe education is one of lifes greatest gifts. Once you have it, it can never be taken away from you.

About Me:
It’s certainly been an interesting ride thus far: born and raised in Rogers Park in Chicago, I attended Von Steuben High School , and then packed my bags for Harvard University. I majored in Statistics and knew that I wanted to teach. I returned to Chicago and earned my Masters of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University. I then taught mathematics at Hinsdale Central High School for two years. Right now I’m working on my Master’s Degree in Psychology at NLU.
I’ve always loved music, but it was at Harvard that I truly learned how to analyze music in earnest. Thus, in my free time you can often find me scrupulously analyzing the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. I’m so passionate about Mozart’s music, just as I am passionate about teaching, because, I do believe that Mozart is a type of teacher. Mozart’s music can teach you about yourself, just as a lesson about Algebra or Calculus can teach you more than just numbers: it can promote reflection and develop self-efficacy. That’s really what the educational experience should be about; and to be honest with you, that’s what I eventually want my doctorate thesis to reveal. But perhaps I’ve said too much.
Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I love to teach, and I love to tutor, so what could be better? Revolution Prep stands apart for a curriculum that truly impresses me: the active reading strategy in particular changed my life; it has helped me, among other things, analyze Mozart better. In contrast to other tutoring I’ve done, this company is serious about its mission statement. I could not be more fortunate to be associated with such a group of professional and dedicated people.
