Lola Adeyemo

Lola A.

Hometown: Piscataway, NJ
College: American University '08; Tufts University '10
Resides in: Somerville, MA

About Me:
I'm currently a graduate student studying development economics and international trade. I'm also a tutor, mentor, big sister and entrepreneur. My interests include traveling, culture, blogging and enjoying life whenever possible!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Among all of the factors being considered by College Admissions officers when deciding whether to accept you or not, the SAT is by far the most controllable factor available. Because you can control how well you do -- by the amount of preparation and perseverance you put towards it -- the SAT can be a powerful tool in setting you up for getting into the school of your choice. I enjoy empowering students and helping them see how they can absolutely conquer the SAT and not let it conquer them.

Catherine Amble

Catherine A.

Hometown: Darien, CT
College: Dartmouth College
Resides in: Brookline, MA

About Me:
I graduated from Dartmouth with a degree in Neuroscience and minor in Public Policy. I'm taking a couple years off before medical school to work in health care and teach. I love skiing, running, and photography, and I'm looking forward to the first big snowstorm of the year!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution because it makes the SAT material fun and manageable. I love the approach of learning to take the test and not memorizing every imaginable detail. I wish I'd had that kind of curriculum in my SAT prep!

Barbara Amburgey

Barbara A.

Hometown: Fitchburg, MA
College: Fitchburg State & Mass College of Art
Resides in: Fitchburg, MA

About Me:
I graduated from Fitchburg State College with a Masters degree in Special Education. I have been teaching for over 30 years and still love it! I'm married, with two grown children. I guess that I'm basically an outdoors person, as I love gardening, camping, boating, painting landscapes and seascapes, and cooking. I also love animals, and share my home with both cats and dogs. I love to learn, and have never stopped taking courses (currently have 75 additional credits beyond my masters). Most of all, I love teaching!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep demystifies the SATs in a clear format that is easy for students to understand and fun to teach.

Matt Amico

Matt A.

Hometown: Hanson, MA
College: UMass Dartmouth
Resides in: North Dartmouth, MA

About Me:
When I’m not holed up on the 5th floor of the library at school, where I’m majoring in Mechanical Engineering, I can be found in several places. Some days I can be found training Muay Thai at Boston Muay Thai Academy, where I am an assistant trainer and active fighter. Other days I am almost unrecognizable through a disguise of grease and dirt, courtesy of my Jeep and its tendency to always want me to work on it. I take spur-of-the-moment trips for the sake of hiking, climbing mountains, or relaxing on a beach. In the warmer months, I spend obscene amounts of time reading beneath trees. In the colder months, well, I can be seen being pulled on a sled beneath those same trees by my two awesome dogs. I have a tendency to unintentionally do epic things.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I have a passion for academics and a passion for teaching. Revolution Prep is a rare find for teachers who love teaching in a fun and purposeful environment. There is an instant gratification in seeing students’ scores increase week after week that can’t be found in other fields of teaching. In the long term, it is rewarding to know that by assisting students in overcoming the SAT as an obstacle I am helping build their confidence and get into the college of their choice.

Bridget Brown

Bridget B.

Hometown: Scranton, PA; Maimi, FL
College: University of Miami, Tufts University
Resides in: Somerville, MA

About Me:
I am originally from Scranton, PA, but moved to Miami 8 years ago for college, and never left (until now). I graduated with a business degree in Finance and Accounting in 2005 and worked for Deloitte & Touche, a public accounting firm, for the last three years. I realized that accounting really wasn't what I wanted to do with my life so I quit my job, sold my belongings, traveled the world for a while, and just recently started graduate school at the Fletcher school at Tufts University to get my masters in International Business/ Relations.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I know how important a good education is and really believe that everyone should be given the best opportunity possible. College is a great time, and you only really have it once, and I like being a part of helping kids get to where they want to go. You really can do whatever you want, you just have to try hard enough.

Mario Cacciola

Mario C.

Hometown: Dedham
College: College of the Holy Cross, Boston University
Resides in: Somerville, MA

About Me:
I'm a 29 year old social studies teacher, and unlike your social studies teacher I actually make my class fun. I enjoy going to concerts, especially outdoor summer shows, and drum for a band part time. I'm always up for trying a new restaurant, and live for football and baseball season.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep because I believe everyone should have an opportunity to prepare and train for the SAT. I think Revolution Prep offers one of the best SAT prep courses around. And obviously I love working with our students, and look forward to helping them prepare for their future in college.

Noelle Carter

Noelle C.

Hometown: North Andover, MA
College: Emerson College
Resides in: Raynham, MA

About Me:
I love to teach! I have a BA in Theater Education and a Massachusetts teacher’s license in Elementary Education. I enjoy reading, independent films, travel, and playing with my two-year-old daughter. I dislike mornings and talk radio!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Because too many students say, "I'm just not a good test-taker." Anyone can be a good test-taker; it’s just a matter of confidence and strategy! I want to help those students gain the confidence they need to get into the college of their choice.

Sheena Dasani

Sheena D.

Hometown: Ottawa Hills, OH
College: Princeton University
Resides in: Andover, MA

About Me:
I teach 9th grade history at the Phillips Academy Andover, and coach crew and tennis. I grew up in Ohio, so the New England winters are pretty new to me - I love all the snow! I love to read, and I am learning how to ski (albeit not well).

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I love teaching, and I believe that everyone can do well on the SAT. Revolution Prep provides a great environment that makes studying for this test both fun and effective.

Michael Davis

Michael D.

Hometown: Providence, RI
College: Brown University
Resides in: Providence, RI

About Me:
I'm a senior at Brown University majoring in Literary Arts, with a particular interest in writing fiction. I play guitar--too much, probably. I read--too much, probably. My favorite song is Going to California by Led Zeppelin, and my favorite book is The Sound and the Fury by William Faulkner.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I feel the SAT is designed largely to trick prospective college students into a crap-shoot mentality concerning not only the test, but also the college process as a whole. My college experience has been unimaginably satisfying, and I'd like to assist in getting some folks over the pain-in-the-neck hurdle that is the SAT so that they might have similarly terrific experiences.

Katy Dobbins-Bucklad

Katy D.

Hometown: Marietta, OH
College: Ohio University
Resides in: Kensington, NH

About Me:
I love teaching and learning in a laidback classroom with lots of jokes and participation. In my spare time, I enjoy Arts & crafts, Bikers, Chicago, Dogs, Electronica, Felines, Godfather movies, Holidays, Ice-fishing, Jem and the Holograms, Kayaking, Libraries, Metal, Nigiri, Optical illusions, Psychology, Quahog, R.I., Sarcasm, Teleportation, Upstanding citizens, Vacationing, White-water rafting, X-ray vision, Young Bob Dylan, Zzzzzs.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
There's nothing better than settling down to a couple of freshly sharpened #2 pencils, a trusty TI-83 and a 4 hour exam. Who's with me?! (crickets chirping) OK, it may not be fun but the SAT is important. So let's make it work for us and not against us.

Ariel Engelman

Ariel E.

Hometown: Deposit, New York
College: Brown University
Resides in: Pascoag, RI

About Me:
I graduated from Brown University with a BA in Theatre/Performance Studies. I currently work as a Paramedic in addition to tutoring and volunteering with the Rhode Island Medical Reserve Corps.

Ekua Ewool

Ekua E.

Hometown: New York
College: Swarthmore College
Resides in: Wakefield, MA

About Me:
I majored in Psychology and Education while in college, and I’m in grad school to get my M.A. in Education, so that I may go on educating the young people of America indefinitely. The Amazing Race is the coolest show in the world. Traveling rocks. I spent a year working at a nature center in Minnesota and did not freeze to death, contrary to the predictions of skeptical New Yorkers. I will get eaten alive if the wrong people find out that I support the Yankees while living in Boston. Please tell no one else.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
The SAT shouldn't block access for anyone. Revolution Prep makes sure it doesn't.

Barbara Farnworth

Barbara F.

Hometown: Lincoln, RI
College: Smith College, Bryant, Providence College
Resides in: Lincoln, RI

About Me:
My first career was in tax accounting, but I saw the light, and recently became certified to teach High School English. I love reading (naturally) and writing, spinning, swimming and hiking. I live with my husband, daughter and two crazy dogs, Mickey and Katie, who occasionally allow the humans to share the couch with them.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep has a great program to teach students the skills they need to succeed on the SAT. I love teaching high school kids and the best thing about teaching SAT strategies is seeing immediate results.

Jeff Fields

Jeff F.

Hometown: Scarsdale, NY
College: University of Wisconsin - Madison
Resides in: Barrington, RI

About Me:
I’m a round ball, not a dilettante, but one with a history of diverse interests and experiences. After studying philosophy at the University of Wisconsin, I traveled extensively before selecting a career path. I spent most of the past thirty years involved in food-related endeavors: as a Chef, an entrepreneur, a senior executive, a consultant and a teacher. My resume highlights managerial, entrepreneurial and executive experience, but embedded within the “suit job” history is a teaching theme – both commercial and academic. At Boston University, I created curriculum and taught classes focusing on concept development in the food service industry. In a similar vein, virtually all of my corporate work involved communication and instruction of some sort, be it sales, managerial or operational. Perhaps, the most rewarding educational experience I’ve been involved in was as a volunteer instructor in the computer lab at my daughter’s elementary school. I believe myself to be a creative and innovative problem solver, able to see and communicate concepts from multiple points of view, and I’m constantly guided by my recollection of the inability of many of my own teachers to have been more than one-trick-ponies. Equally important, I think, is that I enjoy teaching and relating with others. I hope to help today’s students achieve their long term goals by improving their chances of attending the college they think best for them.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
The SAT is a student’s best opportunity to impact his or her desirability to prospective colleges . . . in the shortest amount of time. Of all the SAT Prep programs, Revolution Prep is the most up to date, responsive and inclusive. Rev Prep is the program I chose to help students have the best chance to attend the college they want.

Danielle French

Danielle F.

Hometown: North Kingstown
College: Rhode Island College; Johnson and Wales University
Resides in: Saunderstown, RI

About Me:
I am a high school history teacher and graduate student at Johnson and Wales University studying for my MAT in Special Education. I received my BA from Rhode Island College in Secondary Education and history. In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, hiking, and bowling. I love to travel and explore the world around me, I just don't get to do it as often as I'd like.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Tests used to scare me and the SAT made my knees quake with fear. I decided to work for Revolution Prep to teach students the skills necessary to conquer this standardized test. By working with students in a fun, small group setting, we can gain the skills and strategies to face the SAT with confidence and bring you one step closer to college.

Amy Gendreau

Amy G.

Hometown: Newmarket, NH
College: U Mass Dartmouth
Resides in: Newmarket, NH

About Me:
I've been an "educator" for over 16 years...in one way or another. I am passionate about passing on my knowledge to others. I love to travel with my family and see the excitement in my kids' eyes when the enter a 17th century castle, snorkel a tropical reef or try to communicate in a foreign language. These wonders are what made explorers reach new lands and I want to instill that desire in them as they grow up. When I'm not teaching/tutoring I am continuously building my small business, StoLat Organics, that I have created from the ground up as well as teaching 8th grade Physical Science.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I love to see kids succeed! Once a student realizes that there is a huge payoff for putting in a little effort, the improvements just start rolling in.

Tara Gibson

Tara G.

Hometown: Burrillville, RI
College: Providence College, Mercy College

About Me:
I grew up in Rhode Island, and I recently relocated back to RI after spending the last four years in New York City. While in NYC, I received my Master's in Elementary Education from Mercy College and taught for two years in Harlem and the South Bronx. Though at times my experience in the NYC school system was challenging, overall I found it rewarding and educational. I think that my time spent with my students positively impacted their lives; I know it did mine. Some of my interests include reading, dancing, and shoes! I look forward to working with students through Revolution Prep to help them open the door to all that is possible!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep because I believe ALL students deserve to have access to quality SAT prep.

Annabel Gill

Annabel G.

Hometown: Natick, MA
College: Smith College & University of Edinburgh (Scotland)
Resides in: Cambridge, MA

About Me:
I grew up around eastern Mass, and now I'm back after five and half years in Scotland, and six months in Mexico! Living abroad was an invaluable experience, but it's also great to be back in beautiful New England. I went to Smith College for a year, and then transferred to the University of Edinburgh, where I got my undergrad MA in history and history of art. I'm also a writer with a passion for literature. I love music, good food, exploring the city, and spending time with my friends and family. I especially love learning, and sharing what I've learned with others.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Mastering the SAT helped me get into the schools I wanted to go to, leading to many of the great life experiences I've had so far, and I want to help other kids open up that world of possibilities. Revolution has a great approach to the test, and can help students overcome what often seems like a frustrating and pointless hurdle - so they can get on with the rest of their lives!

Tanya Girgenrath

Tanya G.

Hometown: Medway, MA
College: Boston University
Resides in: Medway, MA

About Me:
Hey everyone! My name is Tanya and I am from a little town that no one has ever heard of called Medway. I've moved around a lot in my life, from Boston to Pennsylvania to New York and back, but I like it where I am now and will be sticking around for a while. Right now, I am a junior at Boston University with a double major in Human Physiology and Magazine Journalism. Super related subjects, I know. My next step is med school, I think, but we'll see what happens between now and then!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
My goal as an SAT tutor is to give all students an equal opportunity to do well on the test so that their score will never be a limiting factor when applying to a college of their choice. For those who are already pro's at test-taking, I will help teach them all the information needed to succeed on the SAT. For those who are less inclined to test-taking, I will do everything I can to ease the stress of the SAT and make sure they have all the tools they need to do well.

Rosetta Gottesman

Rosetta G.

Hometown: Norwich, VT
College: Oberlin College
Resides in: Norwich, VT

About Me:
I am a neuroscience major going into my senior year at Oberlin College. I spend most of my free time hiking in the woods and reading books. I like yoga, music, and dance. I love sunny days.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I think that the SAT is evil. I want to show kids how they can beat it.

Alison Hart

Alison H.

Hometown: Providence, RI
College: Washington University in St. Louis
Resides in: Providence, RI

About Me:
I'm originally from the Beach City suburbs of Los Angeles, where I graduated from high school in 1999. I attended Washington University in St. Louis, where I majored in Biology and minored in American Culture Studies. College was a time when I became culturally aware and socially conscious, leading me to volunteer in proactive ways, such as bringing together suburban and inner-high school students or attending Habitat for Humanity build sites. After receiving my BA I interned with Rock the Vote during the (relatively unexciting) 2004 presidential election, leading me to attend Brown University in pursuit of my Master's of Public Policy degree. Most recently, I've been working as a temp, and I am actively looking for a career in the public or non-profit sector. I'd like to think of myself as an open-minded humanitarian - a lover of nature, civility, and the inextricable link between every living being that inspires me to help others.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I'm five years out of college but still young at heart. I enjoy working with youth and watching them mature and emerge as young adults. With all the joys of being a teenager, adolescence can be a very stressful time - and the SAT is one of the biggest obstacles students have to face on their journey to growing up and going to college. I'd like to make students more confident in their ability to beat the test so they can relax and focus on the real joys of college that lay ahead.

Keith Hebert

Keith H.

Hometown: Allenstown, NH
College: New York University
Resides in: Allston, MA

About Me:
I grew up in a small town and went to school with the same kids for 12 years. After graduated I wanted nothing more than to see something new, so I packed my bags and went to the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. There I studied Psychology and Astrophysics (only one of those is true). I took a year off to learn how to cook at a restaurant before enrolling at NYU to get my masters degree in Applied Psychology (or perhaps Applied Astrophysics?!). I enjoy my work now as a Guidance Counselor in Lawrence and spend my off time reading or listening to any of the many genres of music I tend to collect.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
When I took the SAT"S, I didn't practice or prepare, and looking back, I know now what kinds of doors may have opened with a higher score. I teach because I love teaching and I love finding ways to help students in whatever ways I can.

Michael Hibert

Michael H.

Hometown: Marlborough, MA
College: Westfield State College
Resides in: Westfield, MA

About Me:
I am a college junior who is currently seeking a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a minor in Sociology. I enjoy outdoor activities such as snowboarding, surfing, hiking etc. I currently live in MA, however for approximately 5 years I lived with my father in San Diego, CA. My experiences in San Diego have made me an extremely open and understanding person who loves learning about different cultures. Some of my favorite T.V. shows are SportsCenter, Family Guy, Seinfeld, and anything pertaining to law. I look forward to meeting my students and helping them along the very stressful path to college.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach to assist students with the SATs, and also to help prepare them for what they will be facing on a college campus. I want to see my students do well on the SATs, but more importantly I want them to thrive in the college environment.

Ashley Hill

Ashley H.

Hometown: Birmingham, Alabama
College: Boston University; Bentley College
Resides in: Watertown, MA

About Me:
I am a graduate of Boston University with a B.A. in English, History, and African Studies with a minor in Political Science. I am currently pursuing my MS/MBA in Management and Ethics at Bentley College in Waltham, MA. I am originally from Birmingham, AL but love living in the beautiful city of Boston. I compete in triathlons and volunteer in the community whenever I can. I like to read, hike, ski, travel, and cook. I am mildly obsessed with SEC college football and my favorite magazine is The Economist. I have hiked every major mountain in New England and was almost eaten by a bear once -- ask me about it!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I have over six years of tutoring and test prep experience and love working with students. My favorite part of teaching is seeing the "light" come on when a student understands a difficult concept. I identify with the struggles many of my students have in balancing life, school, and studying and want to help them be the most effective learner they can be, while still having a good time. Success doesn't always mean hours in a library and I want my students to know that. I also learn new things every session with my students, keeping me on my toes while helping me learn how to be a better tutor. My love of working with families and students permeates beyond evenings and weekends to my career and future aspirations.

Michael Houlding

Michael H.

Hometown: Wayland, MA
College: Bennington College
Resides in: Wayland, MA

About Me:
I graduated from Bennington College in 2006, where I studied writing and Japanese (among other things) and frequently wished I owned a heavy jacket. I now own a heavy jacket, and when I'm not enjoying the warmth it brings (or the joy of teaching), I'm an active musician and graphic designer.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach because it's rewarding to know that you're helping future generations succeed, and the SAT shouldn't be a barrier to anyone's success.

Kristy Johnson

Kristy J.

Hometown: Sylvan Beach, NY
College: University of Rochester
Resides in: winchendon, MA

About Me:
Since I am in vet school I am sure you can all guess that I'm an animal lover. I currently have 3 dogs (Roux, Layla, and Hank) and a chinchilla (Stitch). Other that loving animals, I also enjoy all kinds of sports. I played fieldhockey in college and was a sprinter on our track team, but my favorite sport is baseball (Sorry to all of you Red Sox fans, but Go Yankees!) I am currently training to run a marathon this summer in Lake Placid, so we will see how that goes. I tend to live by the idea that if you put in enough hard work then nothing is impossible.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
As an alumni of University of Rochester with a degree in Biomedical Engineering and a current Veterinary Student at Tufts, I know how challenging it can be to succeed on exams. I have learned so much throughout my years of education and my goal is to spread that knowledge to as many people as possible. Getting into a school of your choice can be difficult, but I am a perfect example of why you should never give up on your dreams. When I applied to vet schools after college I got rejected from all except one school and that school was out of the country! It wasn't where I wanted to go, but I knew that if I went and put in the hard work I needed to, then I could prove I was worthy of getting into one of my first choice schools. A year later I applied to Tufts as a transfer student and here I am today in MA to help all of you keep your dreams alive!

Sofia Kaufman

Sofia K.

Hometown: Brookline, MA
College: Northeastern
Resides in: Roslindale, MA

About Me:
I grew up down the street from Fenway Park, which makes me a fanatical Red Sox fan. In 2005 I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northeastern University with a B.A. in Economics and Political Science. I work full time in HR at an awesome company. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends, shoes, and soccer.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach because I believe all students should have the tools to conquer the SAT. The SAT is often what is standing between a student and the college of his or her dreams. I enjoy helping students get one step closer to that dream.

Sarah Kornfeld

Sarah K.

Hometown: Brookline, MA
College: Brandeis University and Westminster Choir College
Resides in: Brookline, MA

About Me:
I'm from Boston, MA, and completed my undergraduate degree at Brandeis University in the incredibly useful majors of English Literature and Italian Language and Literature. I spent three years after college living in Manhattan, singing opera, and taking frequent trips to Italy. I'm now back in school getting my Masters of Music in Vocal Performance. I love singing, cooking (well, trying to), and "Lost".

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution teaches high school students the right tools to tackle the SAT without too much stress and hopefully with a little bit of humor. College is fantastic, and the SAT shouldn't stand in any student's way of getting into the school of his or her dreams.

Nancy Landsberg

Nancy L.

Hometown: Syracuse, NY

Resides in: Quincy, MA

About Me:
I went to Union College in upstate NY and majored in psychology. I moved out to the Boston area after I graduated and have been working here ever since. My favorite things to do are baking, watching reality tv, shopping and spending time with my friends.

I am commited to helping students conquer the SAT and Revolution Prep provides excellent strategies to get there.

Elodie McAllister

Elodie M.

Hometown: Tiverton, RI
College: Brown University, M.A.
Resides in: Tiverton, RI

About Me:
I grew up in St. Louis, then Boca Raton, FL and moved to RI for graduate school. Although I have spent months traveling in Asia, Europe and South America, every time I return to RI I love my adopted state, its beauty and people even more. I studied and taught Economics, dabbled in the importing business and eventually ended up running my own restaurant. Along the way, I also led an afterschool club in middle school, tutored high schoolers in writing composition and math, and acted as facilitator for a group of creative nonfiction writers.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
First, I enjoy the company of my students. I am the parent of a teenager, and I appreciate what he and his friends are going through at this age, who they are, and how they think (I also am a big fan of their music and love going to concerts.) Second, as a student I was fortunate to be a good test taker, however I was a poor listener in lectures. I want to instill in my students a sense of enjoyment in the challenge of mastering the SAT, and I also want to teach them in a format that is based on interactions rather than lectures.

Mary McCarthy

Mary M.

Hometown: Bedford, MA
College: Boston College, Bentley College
Resides in: Bedford, MA

About Me:
I’m a native New Englander and graduate of Boston College (undergrad) and Bentley College (grad school). Teaching has always been a natural for me, so I’ve always gravitated to jobs where I could do just that! In addition to teaching for Revolution Prep, I teach software applications and build eLearning courses for clients. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family, gardening, reading, and playing with my cats. My favorite place to be is at the beach.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
As the mother of two teenagers, I am well aware of the stress that comes with the SAT experience and the college planning process! Knowing that the SAT prep course can significantly reduce this anxiety makes it all worthwhile.

Fjodor Melnikov

Fjodor M.

Hometown: Foxboro, MA
College: Brandeis University
Resides in: Plainville, MA

About Me:
I am currently a junior at Brandeis University. I am majoring in Biochemistry and Economics and still have no idea what I am going to do with my life after graduating. I enjoy good music and just typical guy stuff. I’ll play or watch almost any sport, and have done most of them at one point or another. I am always up for a game of basketball or backyard football so holler if you want to play.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep because the position allows me to work in an interactive environment and have fun while accomplishing something worthwhile. I like to encourage students to get to college and work harder to get there; since, from personal experience, I know that it is worth it.

Kathryn Meyer

Kathryn M.

Hometown: Olney, MD
College: Boston College; Harvard University
Resides in: West Roxbury, MA

About Me:
About 9 years ago I came to Boston to visit colleges. I immediately fell in love with BC, moved in and have been here in Boston ever since. In addition to BC I took time to study in Spain, El Salvador, Cuba and Mexico. For the past 4 years I have taught Kindergarten in a bilingual school in Roxbury, and this year I will be working on my Master's at Harvard. I love to travel, dance and play sports, and I bike everywhere.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Don't let the SAT dictate where you go to college. With a little bit of work and a lot of support, you can go after it, beat it, then leave it in the past.

Kendra Moore

Kendra M.

Hometown: Sacramento, CA
College: Columbia University '09
Resides in: Cambridge, MA

About Me:
I am always looking for my next adventure. I have terrified my parents by skydiving, bungee jumping, and threatening to hang-glide, and will try anything once. I love to travel to cities and countries that are radically different from what I know. Next up: Dollywood, or Nepal? I take theme parties far too seriously and I am very fond of temporary tattoos, swivel chairs, and fresh office supplies.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
In high school, the thought of standardized testing caused me to either hyperventilate or fall asleep. I teach for Revolution Prep because I want to show students that they can outsmart the SAT and conquer it with a few basic weapons.

Alex Olden

Rocio Parra

Rocio P.

Hometown: El Paso, TX
College: Stanford University
Resides in: Cambridge, MA

About Me:
I am currently a graduate student at Harvard Business School where I am studying to get my Masters in Business Administration (MBA). I moved to New York after graduating from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science in Management Science and Engineering.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I'm excited to teach for Revolution Prep because I want to provide an opportunity to students that I never had when I was in high school. Throughout the years, I have learned how important SAT scores are, not only in terms of college admissions, but also internships, jobs and even graduate school admissions. Therefore, preparing for the SAT is an integral part to life after high school and I'm excited to be a part of helping students prepare and achieve.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I enjoy teaching High School age students and I enjoy the challenge of improving student's SAT scores. The results are very measurable and feedback is timely.

Hometown: Holden / Worcester, MA
College: Purdue University
Resides in: Holden, MA

About Me:
I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education from Framingham State College and studied learning and development for my master's degree from Purdue University. I have years of experience teaching students of all ages - from grade school through college.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Taking the SAT can be a daunting task, especially as you are often told that it tests "how smart" you are and that you can't improve your scores. The truth is that if you practice taking the test, learn the tricks, and get the right help to target your weaknesses, you can improve dramatically. Most students get frustrated and needlessly stress out over the SAT. Enough! I teach for Revolution Prep to show students that just a bit of the right kind of work can make a big difference!

Hometown: Providence, RI
College: Brown University
Resides in: Providence, RI

About Me:
I grew up in Philadelphia and moved to Providence to attend Brown. I liked Providence's rich art and music scene so much that I stayed. Professionally, I have worked as a political organizer, researcher and educator. Musically, I play tuba, compose music and handle booking for a raucous brass band that has toured the United States and Europe. I also teach music, and I am active in a variety of other musical and artistic projects. For me teaching is similar to a musical performance; it's a chance for me to infect others with my own enthusiasm!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I take great pride in my students' successes, and Revolution prep displays an inspiring level of commitment to students' achievements as well. This commitment is evident at both an individual and systemic level. Teachers are held accountable to their students, and the company itself finds innovative ways to serve the widest range of students possible. Above all, Revolution has the best test prep model and methods.

Hometown: Kansas City, Missouri
College: University of Missouri-Columbia
Resides in: South Hamilton, MA

About Me:
I grew up in the Midwest and moved to Boston a year ago to begin graduate school. I graduated in 2007 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I received degrees in Newspaper Journalism and Interdisciplinary Studies (which basically means I had three minors: Spanish, history and political science.) I am now in my second year of studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, pursuing a Masters of Divinity (a bit of a change from journalism!). I am a big sports fan and I especially love college basketball and football. When I'm not studying or watching sports, I enjoy trying to find good Mexican food (hard to do in New England), reading, working out, hanging out with friends and meeting new people.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
It wasn't too long ago that I was in the midst of the crazy college application process (and taking and re-taking the SAT and ACT). I know that there is so much pressure to succeed on standardized tests. I think it's so important to come alongside high school students and help them to achieve their potential and pursue their dreams for the future. I am so glad that I have the opportunity to be a part of that process.

About Me:
Going skiing and riding motorcycles are my passions. Others include travel, hiking, and watching movies. I am in my third year of school majoring in Social Entrepreneurship and Economics. I have held many jobs, but none were as satisfying as helping students achieve their SAT goals.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Meeting new students and helping each and every one improve their chances at getting into a school of their choice is extremely gratifying. College is a large part of a student's life, and I want to help people get accepted somewhere they will be successful.

Hometown: Abington, MA
College: Boston University, College of Communication and Co
Resides in: North Easton, MA

About Me:
I graduated from Boston University with degrees in both Mass Communication (so that I could work in broadcast news) and English (for when I was tired of traveling and wanted to teach high-school English Lit). While I was in school I worked at some pretty cool internships...I interned at WBCN (the radio station), 7 News, a cable news station, and WB 56 and I also worked for a company that owned a bunch of night clubs. After graduation, though, I figured out that fun, cool jobs don't always pay the bills so I've been working for a benefits outsourcing company for a few years. That sounds incredibly boring but I love my job and I can work from home, which is a great perk in the summer. I was also a financial adviser for a while and enjoyed teaching people how money really works and how to save for retirement and other long-term goals. When not working and teaching, I'm usually with my husband and kids at home in Easton. We like to swim, boat, and bike in the summer and while they're outside in the winter I gladly have hot chocolate duty. Snow is not my friend. I play piano (not well), enjoy theater (yes I was a theater geek in school), and still like to draw but haven't busted out paints or clay in years. I am not remotely athletic but I am a Red Sox and Pats fan (who isn't?) and while I'm not crazy about hockey, just about every Bruins game is on in my house all season long.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
The SAT is a test that anyone who is well prepared can get a decent score on...I don't believe that one exam should stand between any student and their college dream. Revolution's techniques are simply the best and I love that they give a financial break to those who need it.

About Me:
I am the coolest Indian you will ever meet. Having said that, I have not met all 1.16 billion, but you get the point. My philosophy is simple: "impossible is found in the dictionary of fools," and so everything is possible. All it takes is the right attitude.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution has a vision that is all about the student, and I think that aligns with my philosophy too. It is ALWAYS ALL about the student, and so here I am.

I am an assistant teacher in a kindergarten classroom who is currently attending Framingham State College for my Masters degree in Education. My favorite movie is Forrest Gump, and in my spare time I love reading and catching up with friends.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep because I remember how intimidating the SATs can be, and I want to help my students realize that it's really not that scary and that they can (and will) do well!!

Amy Vlazny

Amy V.

Hometown: Louisville, KY
College: Washington University in St. Louis
Resides in: South Grafton, MA

About Me:
I'm a second-year student in veterinary school at Tufts. After graduating I'd like to work both with pets and with farm animals; I'm also really interested in international sustainable development work. Before moving here for vet school I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador for two years, and subsequently worked as a veterinary technician in Kentucky and in California. At Wash U I majored in biology and minored in Spanish. I love biking, playing frisbee, and otherwise being outside. I'm really into music of all genres. I have a passion for learning about the world's cultures and languages. And of course, I love animals of all shapes and sizes!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I have missed teaching! I coached gymnastics in college and taught English as a Peace Corps volunteer, both of which were a lot of fun. Helping high schoolers prepare for the SAT seemed like a great way to share skills that will be immediately useful for the students. Revolution Prep has a straightforward and strategical approach to the SAT that I hope we can have some fun with!

About Me:
My favorite hobby is quilting. I have been sewing for many years and love working with fabric and designing quilts. I have made many over the years all of varying sizes and shapes. I also love to watch live sports. The atmosphere and excitement of being at the field is fantastic! My family and I have been to a few BC football games this season which has been great, the stadium is the perfect size. I try to read a lot; I enjoy non fiction the most and love getting book recommendations! What are you reading? If I'm not doing one of the above activities I am probably with my family enjoying one of their many after school activities!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Revolution Prep is fast pace, progressive and exciting! I believe Rev Prep offers one of the best programs to students preparing for SAT's. The combination of low cost and local school offerings along with the improved curriculum make for a great choice. I love helping kids to prepare for their SATs because I love to see kids succeed!

John Williams

John W.

Hometown: Hibbing, MN
College: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Resides in: Boston, MA

About Me:
Born in the state of Wyoming and raised on the southern shores of Lake Superior, the desert mountains or Peru, and the northern woods of Minnesota, I developed a drive for exploration and adventure at an early age. My expeditions have taught me much, whether it's swimming with piranhas in the Amazon, camping in the sub-zero temperatures of Minnesota, or skiing the Rockies' back country. However, after earning a degree in Physics and Math, I am now pursuing another challenge: Med School. While awaiting the results of my application process, I have relocated to Boston and happened upon perhaps the best test prep company I have seen. Oh, and just because I'm addicted, Crossfit is a passion of mine (don't worry most people don't know what it is either).

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
Rev Prep attacks the SAT in an effective and efficient manner. Not only that, but it is available to all. These characteristics are what drew me to and inspired me to teach for Revolution Prep.

I recently graduated from Tufts University. I now do research at McLean Hospital in Belmont. I work on Alzheimer's Disease, Sleep Disorders and Mood Disorders in the elderly. Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep because I loved college and doing well on the SATs definitely helped me to get into a good school. I want to help others be able to do the same.

Lacey Wright

Lacey W.

Hometown: South Kingstown, RI
College: University of Rhode Island
Resides in: West Kingston, RI

About Me:
I'm a senior in the Biological Sciences program at URI. I am looking towards a PhD in genetics or molecular pathology in the next few years, but I promise I'm not a total science nerd. In my free time I enjoy rock climbing, hiking, road trips with great music, and learning about new people and places.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I teach for Revolution Prep because college has such a profound impact on a student's future, and I want to help students get into the school of their dreams. Revolution Prep gives students the tools they need to tackle a big part of getting into college: the SAT. Plus, it doesn't hurt that working with high school students is really quite fun and teaching for Revolution is the best job ever.

Rabi Wright

Rabi W.

Hometown: Foxboro, MA (Go Pats!)
College: University of St. Andrews (St. Andrews, Scotland)
Resides in: Allston, MA

About Me:
I am a big nerd. I love learning new things, especially English related. I get an excited glint in my eye when I talk about reading, writing, grammar, literary theory and history, criticism, Shakespeare, modernists, Oscar Wilde, and crime fiction. I also love history, traveling, languages, art, music, laughing, dogs, chocolate, swing dancing, and bad jokes. My life long ambitions include being able to raise one eyebrow, being able to play the guitar, and owning a bakery after I retire from teaching. I recently graduated from the University of St. Andrews with a master's degree in English. I also passed the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure, and my long term goal is to be a high school English teacher. In the meantime, I am teaching for Revolution Prep and also serving as a hospital teacher in Jamaica Plain.

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I am teaching for Revolution Prep because I love teaching and I love working with teenagers. The SAT is a necessary evil, so if I can help students understand the test, get a better score, and make the process a little less painful: mission accomplished.

Anna Yukhananov

Anna Y.

Hometown: Newton, MA
College: Johns Hopkins
Resides in: Newton, MA

About Me:
I recently finished a joint BA/MA program in international relations from Johns Hopkins University. While in college, I had a chance to tutor Russian and Spanish. I was also teacher's assistant for a class on International Trade Theory. Now I'm trying my hand at journalism, freelancing for some papers in Boston. I love traveling and writing, so the eventual goal is being a foreign correspondent. But in the meantime, I'm enjoying Boston, exploring the city's coffee shops, and teaching with Revolution Prep!

Why I teach at Revolution Prep:
I like the innovative spirit. And how they make the SAT fun (as much as it's possible to do!)
