About this class
After you have a list of schools picked out, how do you begin the process? Should you use a common application or a school’s unique application? What are the components that need to be completed? How important is the list of personal and academic achievements? When should you ask teachers for recommendations? How do you manage all the essays (or help your child manage them)? What kinds of topics should you choose — and avoid? How much should parents write in the parent questionnaires? Is it required to disclose any disciplinary issues? Are on-campus interviews important, or will Skype interviews suffice? Are thank-you notes to interviewers still even necessary? (Hint: Yes! But content matters.) How often do you keep in contact with the school once the application has been submitted? Should you do a “revisit” day for schools where you are accepted? What if you’re waitlisted at your top choice school?
Join this session for an overview of the boarding school application process and how to avoid common pitfalls. Questions are encouraged!
