Technical Problem Questions:
Steps to Take Prior to First Online Session or Exam:
  1. Run the Webex Test on your computer to test your device make sure all your software is up to date and compatible.
  2. Webex Test Link: http://www.webex.com/test-meeting.html
  3. Type in your name and email address and it will automatically test your computer for all necessary system requirements.
  4. If you receive the message, “Congratulations, your system is now set up properly”, your system is ready to go.
  5. If the Webex Test prompts you to download the Webex Meeting Center or Webex Plugin, please make sure that you download it now.
  6. Once the download completes, please restart your computer to make sure the new update is applied.
  7. **Try to avoid using Internet Explorer browsers, if possible. The online program runs most efficiently when using Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari**
Online Class or exam session won’t launch?
Please use the following internet browsers when using our online program: Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. If possible, try to avoid using Internet Explorer.
  1. Run the “Webex Test” to test your computer to ensure all system requirements and software is up to date: http://www.webex.com/test-meeting.html . Enter your name and email address to activate the system test.
  2. You may also want to make sure your JavaScript is up to date. A free download of the most recent JavaScript program is available at: java.com.
  3. Make sure all other software on your computer is up to date. If you have logged on to your computer recently and it has asked you to make an update but you have not, please take the time to make the update now.
  4. Bandwidth – Internet connection is either cutting out or completely dropped. Students on wireless internet will see this more often than students using a wired connection
  5. Another culprit is the browser. Every browser needs the Webex plug-in to run smoothly. If, for any reason, the plug-in failed or crashed during launch you will continue to get the Webex loading page.
  6. The best thing to do is to close the session either if it’s the student’s side or instructor’s side. First the instructor should launch the session in a different browser and then have the student Join the session from a different browser. Simply re-launching with the same browser might just re-load the cached (stored) session.
  7. If you do not turn off your computer frequently, please do so now. If your computer prompts you to make any other software updates after your restart, please make those updates prior to attempting to join any online class or exam session.
  8. To activate your webcam once you are logged into the virtual classroom, click on the camera/video icon next to your name in the top right corner of the page.
  9. Our partners at Webex are online program and troubleshooting experts. If you follow the directions above and are still not able solve your issues, please call the Webex Tech Support Team at: 866-569-3239.
Issues with Webex: Audio or Video issues?
  1. Audio or video issues with online session? When you first login to your online session, a pop-up will appear that asks, “Join Integrated Video and Audio Conference?” Make sure you select “Yes” when that pop-up appears.
  2. Initially, you should use the chat feature to let the tutor know that you are going to mute yourself. You can also have the student do the same for a few seconds. This might allow the audio to re-sync because there will be no new audio being transferred.
  3. There are various audio outputs for a given computer. The default audio could be associated to a different speaker such as (AirPlay, Bluetooth Speakers, Etc.) and those speakers could be off or on low volume.
  4. This video is a great resource to help guide a student into making sure their audio is defaulting to the correct setting. http://vimeo.com/35648386
  5. Students should be mindful of if they have headphones plugged in or if they are using the external speakers. Webex allows you to use a different speaker and mic (could be different from the default)
