Understanding what makes a good tutor — and what separates a good tutor from a great tutor —…
Our approach to Science Tutoring
Diagnose learning roadblocks
When a student struggles in science classes, it may actually be a math or reading issue that is inhibiting learning. If a student does not have a solid grasp of equations, or doesn’t understand a scientific theory presented in their assigned reading, they will struggle in science. Our tutors focus on raising grades and test scores first, but also make sure we have a complete picture of academic skills.
Make science meaningful
Our tutors are passionate about science, and find ways to engage their students in the subject by tying the material to common interests. If your child is a football fan, that can be a great way to conceptualize physical laws like force, inertia and velocity. This helps to not only bring scientific concepts to life and make it more fun, but also make it more memorable.
Learn to fail forward
Science is the perfect medium for development of a growth mindset. In science, a disproven hypothesis is not a failure. In fact, the entire scientific method is based on trying to disprove a hypothesis. Learning to think critically, analyze data, and interpret information in a scientific way will help your child in every aspect of their life.
