Elise excels at assessing the individual strengths and weaknesses of each student. She uses these insights to help each student develop a unique approach to his or her studies that will be useful in many different academic contexts. Elise has a wide variety of areas of specialization. She has used her own past experiences working at Lindamood Bell and studying neuroscience to help students in English, biology, and chemistry, among other subjects. Whether a student needs help improving grades, studying for the SAT Biology subject test, or preparing for the TOEFL, Elise has extensive teaching experience to support these goals. Elise has experience supporting students with ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, and Executive Functioning. Elise's instructional style centers around developing a warm, friendly relationship with students that encourages trust and honesty. Her students learn to ask for help whenever they need it and gain confidence as a result.
Elise earned her bachelor's degree in neuroscience from Oberlin College before going on to earn a master's in flute performance from Cal Arts. As a graduate teaching assistant at Bowling Green State University, she helped many undergraduate freshmen develop college level writing and study skills. Elise currently volunteers at a nonprofit music organization in Los Angeles as a professional grant writer. She still loves playing the flute and has a wonderful dog named Cindy.
