After teaching English in South Korea for a year on a Fulbright grant, Suzy continued her studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned both her Master's degree and Ph.D. in Greek Art and Archaeology. During her graduate career, Suzy was the recipient of numerous departmental and university teaching awards, fellowships, and national grants. She is also the author of numerous papers and has been invited to present her research at national conferences.
Suzy specializes in reading, writing, and math prep for the SAT and ACT, but she also enjoys working with students on biology and, of course, art history! She brings years of experience gained from tutoring over 100 students, helping to build solid foundations and fine-tuning more complex concepts. Suzy loves instilling a passion for learning—no matter the subject—in every student. Suzy's greatest strength as a tutor is her ability to empathize and connect with her students, which enables her to customize her sessions to each student's individual needs. She loves to work with students on figuring out the "why" and "how" instead of simply regurgitating information, thereby empowering her students to become confident thinkers, learners, and test-takers. Her passion for learning is contagious and students have remarked that her approach to teaching makes the material and process enjoyable.
Suzy loves anything and everything related to food. She has been known on more than one occasion to travel very far just for one incredible meal.
