About the Speaker
Raised in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan, I graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and worked in NYC in the trenches of foster care and the New York City K-12 public school system. After graduating with a full academic scholarship to Columbia University with my Master’s of Social Work, I relocated to the Bay Area to reinvent my career to focus on education as a pathway to social equity. As a community college professor, academic counselor, and TRiO Student Services Director, I have ample experience working in higher education with young adults. Most recently, I worked for over four years on both the freshman admissions teams for UC Santa Cruz and UC Berkeley in Northern California. I believe that college can be a dealmaker or breaker for so many students and I love, love, love working with adolescents and young adults!
