About Revolution Prep

History

Revolution Prep began in 2002, after founders Ramit Varma and Jake Neuberg met at UCLA's Anderson School of Business. After years of teaching for Kaplan and The Princeton Review, Jake and Ramit dreamed of starting a company with the mission of helping students achieve their academic goals by improving upon traditional educational tools and creating new and innovative solutions to academic problems. They began by creating a better SAT Reasoning Test* curriculum and a program that put the needs of its students over its bottom line.

Revolution Prep is a testament to Jake and Ramit's passion for education and their commitment to providing customers with superior service at a fraction of the cost of other competitive courses. Since 2002, Revolution has become the largest provider of SAT prep courses and tutoring in California and one of the largest providers nationwide, with students in 12 states.

Building on the success of its SAT program, Revolution's products and services now address a wide range of academic areas, including ACT, GRE, high-stakes No Child Left Behind testing, and online education. Revolution continues to be an innovator in the field of education, and has experienced explosive growth and received rave reviews from students, parents, and school administrators.

Founders

Ramit Varma

While attending the University of Maryland on a full academic scholarship, I discovered how much I loved being a teacher and spent three years as a teacher and Master Trainer for Princeton Review. Upon graduating with honors with a degree in Electrical Engineering, I went to work for Deloitte Consulting where I stayed until going back to business school. While students in business school at UCLA, Jake and I had a conversation about our enthusiasm for teaching and the opportunity to build a successful company devoted to helping students achieve their academic goals. Revolution is well on its way to becoming the company we've always known it could be, and I am incredibly excited about the future.

Jake Neuberg

As an undergraduate at UC, Berkeley, I rowed crew and worked at an investment bank to pay my way through school. After graduation, I pursued my interest in teaching and mentoring as an SAT teacher at Kaplan. While I loved working with students, I found that I had significant philosophical differences with the Kaplan program. At Revolution Prep, Ramit and I have been able to create a company and an environment that I can truly believe in. Student needs are placed first, long-term skills are emphasized and confidence is built. The most gratifying thing about the company's growth has been our increasing ability to reach all kinds of students in all kinds of places and situations.
