Frequently Asked Questions

1) Why does the PSAT/NMSQT matter?

The PSAT/NMSQT® provides an early benchmark for college readiness, and for juniors, it’s the qualifying test for National Merit® recognition.

2) Is the PSAT/NMSQT now digital?

Yes. The SAT® and PSAT/NMSQT® are fully digital and adaptive. The official test is delivered through College Board’s Bluebook app.

3) Is the practice test digital like the real PSAT/NMSQT?

Yes. Our platform mirrors the official digital format — including adaptive sections, timing, navigation tools, and the embedded Desmos graphing calculator — so students know exactly what to expect on test day.

4) Who is this best for?

Primarily 10th and 11th graders. Juniors can qualify for National Merit® recognition, while sophomores gain a first look at college readiness and build confidence before the official exam.

5) What devices are allowed for the digital PSAT/NMSQT?

Students can use a school-issued or personal laptop or Chromebook with the Bluebook testing app installed.

6) Can my student use a calculator?

Yes. On the digital PSAT/NMSQT, students can use a calculator on every math question. Our online practice includes the official Desmos graphing calculator built into the test screen, just like the real exam.

7) Do you provide accommodations for students with learning differences or extended-time needs?

Yes. Our PSAT/NMSQT® practice can reflect approved accommodations such as extended time, extra breaks, small-group settings, and screen-reader compatible materials. Note accommodations when registering so we can match your student’s needs. For questions about requesting official PSAT/SAT accommodations, please contact your school and the College Board.

8) When will we get results?

Right after the test — instant scores appear in your account with section-by-section detail and official percentiles.

Is the PSAT/NMSQT offered on paper?

No. All official SAT® and PSAT/NMSQT® exams are now digital.

What does “adaptive” mean?

The test adjusts difficulty based on performance, providing accurate results in less time.

Do PSAT/NMSQT scores count for college admissions?

No. PSAT/NMSQT® scores are not sent to colleges. They are an excellent predictor of SAT® performance and, for juniors, determine National Merit® recognition.

How does the National Merit Scholarship work?

High-scoring juniors on the official PSAT/NMSQT® may become National Merit® Semifinalists or Finalists. This distinction can lead to significant scholarships from colleges and private sponsors.

What technology do we need for the practice test?

A laptop or desktop with stable internet and a modern browser (e.g., Chrome). We’ll send setup instructions in your confirmation.

Is the practice test really free?

Yes. There’s no cost and no credit card required — it’s truly free.

Can we retake or reschedule?

Yes. Use the link in your confirmation email to change or rebook your date.

Will our scores be shared with schools?

No. Your results are private and shared only with your family.

What happens after the practice test?

You’ll receive a free one-on-one review with a Revolution Prep Academic Advisor to interpret scores and plan next steps.
